Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about how we source, list and sell boats, engines and equipment. If your question isn’t here, call either office.

Buying and pricing

Why are your prices lower than a dealer's?

We buy through financial institutions, repossessions and liquidations, where assets are often sold to clear them quickly. That lets us price competitively. The trade-off is that availability depends on what comes in, so inventory changes often.

Where do your boats and engines come from?

From banks and lenders selling assets they've taken back, from repossessions, and from liquidations such as dealer closures or fleet sell-offs. Where we know an item's history, we include it in the listing.

Is the listed price negotiable?

Ask us. Pricing depends on the item and how it was sourced. Whatever we agree is confirmed in writing before you commit.

What if I can't find what I'm looking for?

Tell us what you need, including type, size, budget and location, through the contact page or by phone. New assets come in regularly and we'll let you know when something fits.

Condition and inspection

What does the condition note on a listing mean?

It's what we know about the item's state: how it's been used, visible wear, and anything it's known to need. If something isn't covered, ask us before you buy.

Can I have a boat inspected before I buy?

Where available, yes. Call or email about the listing and we can discuss arranging an independent inspection, such as a marine survey, before you commit. Our Resources page links to directories of accredited marine surveyors.

Can I see the item in person?

Often, yes. Viewing depends on where the item is held. Ask the office nearest the listing's location and we'll tell you what's possible.

Do engines come with service records?

Sometimes. Repossessed and liquidated assets don't always come with full records. When we have them, we say so in the listing or share them on request.

Payment and paperwork

How do I pay?

Payment terms are stated on each listing and confirmed in writing before you commit. Ask us which payment methods apply to the item you're interested in.

Can I finance a purchase?

Ask us about the specific item. Many buyers arrange financing through their own bank or a marine lender before purchase, which can make the process faster.

What paperwork comes with a boat?

We'll tell you what documents come with the item, such as a title, registration or bill of sale, before you buy. You'll then need to title and register the boat in your state, where required.

Do I need a boating license to operate what I buy?

It depends on your state and age. Florida and New York both have boater education requirements. See our Resources page for the official details and links.

Pickup and shipping

Do you ship, or do I have to pick up?

Both can be possible. Pickup arrangements and shipping options depend on the item and where it's going. Ask us about a specific listing and destination.

Can you ship outside the United States?

Ask us. Whether we can arrange it depends on the item, the destination and the paperwork involved.

Does a boat come with a trailer?

Only if the listing says so. When a trailer is included, it appears in the listing's specifications.
